is an expert on global risk arising from systemic changes occurring in the natural environment.
Gail is the founder of Arctic Basecamp and a Professor of Sustainability at the University of Exeter Business School (UK).
Rainn Wilson
Founding Director
is an American actor (The Office), comedian, writer, director, businessman, and producer.
A committed climate change advocate, Rainn is also an active member of the Arctic Basecamp Advisory Board. Rainn founded the website and YouTube channel SoulPancake.
Chuck Tatham

is a comedy writer and producer (Modern Family, How I Met Your Mother, Arrested Development, Night Court 2023).
Chuck is an active member of the Arctic Basecamp Advisory Board and sometime polar bear.
Steve Walls
Founding Director
Steve has spent the last 25 years working in advertising - helping the world's biggest brands feel more relevant and resonant.
He's spent a quarter of a century learning how to use culture to shape behaviour. It's a skillset that he hopes to bring to Project Basecamp - finding the facts, stories, causes and science that will resonate with people strongly enough to have them engage more fully and more often in climate issues.
Katharine Hayhoe

is the Chief Scientist for The Nature Conservancy and a Horn Distinguished Professor and Endowed Professor of Public Policy and Public Law at Texas Tech University.
Katharine Hayhoe is an atmospheric scientist whose research focuses on understanding the impacts of climate change on people and the planet. She is the Chief Scientist for The Nature Conservancy and a Horn Distinguished Professor and Endowed Professor of Public Policy and Public Law at Texas Tech University. She has served as a lead author for the Second, Third, and Fourth U.S. National Climate Assessments. She is the author of the best-selling book Saving Us: A Climate Scientist’s Case for Hope and Healing in a Divided World. She also hosts the PBS Digital Series Global Weirding and is a co-founder of Science Moms. She has received many honors and awards, including the TIME 100 Most Influential People and Fortune's 50 World's Greatest Leaders, and is a United Nations Champion of the Earth in Science and Innovation.

is Presidential Distinguished Professor in the Department of Earth and Environmental Science at the University of Pennsylvania, with a secondary appointment in the Annenberg School for Communication. He is director of the Penn Center for Science, Sustainability, and the Media (PCSSM).
Dr. Michael E. Mann is Presidential Distinguished Professor in the Department of Earth and Environmental Science at the University of Pennsylvania, with a secondary appointment in the Annenberg School for Communication. He is director of the Penn Center for Science, Sustainability, and the Media (PCSSM). He is author of several books including Dire Predictions, The Hockey Stick and the Climate Wars, The Madhouse Effect, The New Climate War and Our Fragile Moment. He has received many honors and awards, including NOAA's outstanding publication award in 2002 and selection by Scientific American as one of the fifty leading visionaries in science and technology in 2002. He contributed, with other IPCC authors, to the award of the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize. He was elected to the U.S. National Academy of Sciences in 2020.
